 Rides and Routes

This is an archive of day rides and other routes that the club or individual members have done in the past.  Most are single day rides, some are longer.  Some are good, others great, otherwise who knows.  As always, ride your own ride... only you hold the handlebars!

In the best of all cases, each route will have four elements:

  • description of the ride
  • set of directions (left right stuff)
  • a map
  • the Microsoft Streets and Trips .est file (currently using 2001 version).  (You will need to have a copy of Microsoft Streets and Trips to be able use this file.)

In reality this won't all happen very often, but you can hope.  So peruse at your own risk.

To make it easier to print these routes, they are presented in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format.

(If you don't have Acrobat Reader, first -- (If you don't have Acrobat Reader, first -- have you always been a Luddite? and secondly, go to the newsletter page and you can download a free copy.)

It's about the ride!

It's about the Ride!

GS Riders of NorCal Favorite Rides A compendium of favorite GS rides in the Northern California Area
Bridgeport - Auburn Loop Departs from the Western Coffee Pot, take a variety of roads up to Bridgeport, CA on the Yuba River.  Bridgeport is the site of the longest covered bridge in existence. After a stop there, return via an assortment of roads to Auburn for a late lunch at Ikeda’s off I-80.  Burgers, teriyaki rice bowls and fruit pies all get high marks. BridgeportAuburnLoop.est
PokerRun99 These are two routes starting from the Fair Grounds in Auburn.  The first is a 106 mile loop toward Nevada City and Downieville that returns to Auburn.  The second is a loop out to the Coloma gold discovery site area.
Murphys the back way The 1999 B&B route from the WCP to Murphy's
Amador 95 Poker Run '95 Poker run leaving from the Amador County Fair grounds and running south to Sutter Creek, up to the hills and back down to the fairgrounds.
B&B Ride, 2001 The 2001 B&B route, from Auburn @ Greenback to Volcano, via the Sutter Gold Mine.

The 48 Plus! Here is the ultimate ego trip in the Northern Hemisphere, the 48 plus! Ride all 48 states plus Alaska in 10 days. For all this effort you'll get an 8X10 glossy of your handsome mug on the wall of the SeaLask Inn in Hyder, AK. Long distance riders from around the world will see your face proudly on display in the lobby for eternity!

Follow this map and you should make it to Hyder with 24 hours to spare so you can sight see and watch the bears romp around the glaciers. It will require that you ride 9 successive 1000 mile days to reach Hyder, but then you get to relax in the wilderness before you head back home.

For more information check out; http://www.ironbutt.com/ On the left side of the page look for "Ride Certifications" and click on it, then click on 48plus and you'll find an explanation of the ride. It's simple and just requires you to ride the bike longer than you've ever ridden before and probably never will again!
