MOA RALLY

On Wednesday we ride to dinner and on Saturday we ride to breakfast. Those and any other rides are coordinated and (sometimes) reported here.

MOA RALLY

I reserved a camping area for RCB members in the Chartered Club area of the fairgrounds. I hope to arrive early Thursday afternoon. The RCB banner will go up shortly after I arrive. A copy of the Rally site map is attached.

Please remember to identify yourself as a RCB member when registering. We were only 2-3 people shy of having the greatest number of members in Billings. We'd like to claim that honor in SLC.

Also be sure to give them our club charter number which is 210. That was a problem in the past, if they didn't have the club number you weren't counted.

BMW Nav GPS Update

Heads up gents.
There is an update for Garmin Express, and the map for the GPS.
These can take a long time to complete.
See y'all Thursday.

Just returned from the rally today. What a nice trip. From Bozeman through Yellowstone park and the Tetons to Jackson, WY the first leisurely day. Stopping to see the geysers and Yellowstone Lake. The views coming out of the south entrance to the park of the Tetons is a not to miss. Jackson is a very fun place to spend some time as well. The next day from Jackson south is a highway I had not been on before. Scenic as well hugging the west border of WY all the way to Evanston. Then on 80 for some terrifying slab riding with all the crazies in the heat to SLC. Spent some time with the RCB crew yesterday and that was very fun as well. The facility and vendors were good and it was good to see Glenn from Clearwater Lights again and I bought a Billie from his wife. Thanks to George, Mike and Rick and rest of the crew crew for the nice RCB encampment.

Sunday afternoon my friend, Vernon, and I were south of Jackson Hole, WY when my buddy was rear-ended by a pickup truck. A car was turning left in front of us, I slowed and passed on the right shoulder, while he opted to stop and wait for the car to make its turn. The truck slammed into him and pushed his bike 40 feet down the pavement. I heard him call out my name over the helmet intercom and watched in my rear view mirror as the accident happened. The left front crash bar, left rear pannier, and his riding gear saved his life. He walked away with a sore left butt check and a scrambled psyche. The county deputy and Wyoming State Trooper were amazed that he wasn't killed. It's a testament to the engineering of BMW motorcycles and the state of the art riding gear. Other than the damage to the crash bar, pannier, and license plate/light holder, the bike was still able to be ridden. The skid marks from the truck were over 100 feet long and it was obvious that he was speeding. The driver stated "I only looked away for ten seconds". The driver wasn't insured.

A day I will never forget!

Hi Scott, Sorry to hear about the accident. I know he felt so bummed when he clipped the BMW SUV on Saturday! Now, he was rear ended! Glad to know he is OK. Pls send our best regards!
