Whale Ride 2016

On Wednesday we ride to dinner and on Saturday we ride to breakfast. Those and any other rides are coordinated and (sometimes) reported here.

Whale Ride 2016

Postby Y2K12RS » Wed Jan 06, 2016 11:20 am

The annual Whale Ride to the Sea Gull Inn in Mendocino is happening again. This ride is great for couples and this year's ride takes place the second full weekend of March: 3/11 - 12/2016. Rooms are 15% off the Standard rate, Greg Peart leads the ride from the Sacto area over great roads to the village of Mendocino and The Sea Gull Inn. During the weekend, some go on rides in the area, but most relax, shop, and enjoy the great dining - Oh, and try to spot whales just off the coast! Rooms are blocked for YOU (they all appear reserved but are not), so you can view them online, but you have to CALL to get actually book a room. That way no interlopers get your favorite room (right Lisa?). It should be a great ride, as always, so look for more details in Greg's article in an upcoming newsletter, or search the Newsletter archives for past articles on previous year's rides.

Just a quick update for those having an interest in attending this year's event. We currently have two rooms still available. This should be a great weekend for riding and relaxing. Come on over to the coast and watch the whales go by and enjoy cocktails and dinner with the group each night. See this month's RCB Newsletter for details.....

Update Whale Ride 2016

Postby Y2K12RS » Sun Mar 06, 2016 9:41 am

The Whale Ride is coming up this next weekend, March 11 and 12. Unfortunately, Tony Spidaro injured himself and will not be able to make it this year. We wish him a speedy recovery! That said, it does open up one room for anyone who might be thinking they would like to join us this weekend. Greg Peart has all the details and will be leading the ride from the New Eppies in West Sac to Mendocino. Or look in the recent RCB Newsletters.
Looking forward to seeing you all again!
Jim

Seeing as the forecast for the next week in Mendo is for rain, rain, and more rain, does anyone plan to drive a car instead of riding on this trip?

I know Cyndee will likely drive if the weather is foul and the Talley party may as well. So, if you decide to drive, just be sure to let Greg know so he knows who and how many will be riding over with him. In the past, we have never had poor enough weather that everybody drove. But El Nino may play into this......
At this point, I am still planning to meet you all at the lunch spot on my bike and ride back over with you.

Heidi will be driving over regardless, I'm watching to see what the rain will do. Still up in the air. I will let Greg know as soon as I decide. Thanks

Just saw the weather for tomorrow and it is for up to 2 inches of rain and 20+ mph winds. We will be driving for sure, but want to know if everyone still are meeting up around 8-9 a.m. at Eppies? I believe Greg still plans to ride no matter what.
Thanks,
Shawn
