Adjustable Windscreen

Postby Tammy » Tue Feb 25, 2014 8:41 pm

Hello. I'm looking at getting an adjustable windscreen for my 2013 BMW F700GS. Anyone have any experiences (either positive or negative) to share? Below are some of the screens being considered.

Wunderlich Touring Windscreen http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorc ... 10157.html

Touratech adjustable windscreen http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/336/ ... 650GS-Twin

Britannia adjustable windscreen http://www.britanniacomposites.com/inde ... irage2menu

Madstad http://www.madstad.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.9452/.f (least favorite visually but interested to hear your thoughts)

I'm totally open to other adjustable screens as well. The ones above were the only ones I could find.

Thank you for your help.

I don't have a lot of experience with any of these screens but I would choose the one that did not cost $800

Hey Tammy,
Just my thought on screens. They r like tire and oil threads. Everyone has an opinion. Depends on what u r tryin to achieve, and does it work for you. Anatomically we r all different and what works for u doesn't necessarily work for me. I had a so called comfort shield on my bike and the wind noise was horrible. With a laminar lip on it , it was MUCH better. Ended up buying the shortest shield I could find and have found riding nirvana. Riding an r1100s, ur just gonna be in the wind. There is one of our club members with a new r1200r who has tryed a coupla different screens on his ride and has not found nirvana as of yet I think. Good luck in ur search. I agree with Rick, the 800.00 set up wouldn't be my first choice. But then again, what do I know?

Thanks Mike. Great advice. The 700 GS windscreen is almost nonexistent. I added a slightly taller one but it doesn't provide much coverage. At low speeds it's not bad but there is too much buffeting on the highway. Hope like you I find my nirvana. Thanks for the response.

Tammy,
Have you looked at Parabellum shields for ur bike? Take a look. Looks like u would get some coverage there.

I know this is late, you probably have selected your screen. I have a 2007 K1200S and I actually have the Madstad screen and Honestly I like the look, and it does a very nice job and is very adjustable, and allows some air to pass thru the bottom, per your adjustments. I find my ride more comfortable than the stock screen.

One bonus is with the Madstad screen, is that the stock screen is replaced with an solid aluminum screen, and shades the dash panel, and for me provided mounting locations (covered) for my Xenon Light Kit Xfmers, and my fast-track, and garage door opener.

I got the 20" smoke, I have Heli-bar riser bars on mine, and have essentially 70/30, 70% like it and the look I am very happy with it, but to each their own.

I have attached a few pics of mine.

Hi John, welcome to RCB.
Yes, you are correct. This is late. Tammy has since moved on to the 1200 GSW. I think her 700 GS is for sale, if not sold yet.
Take care and see you around.
