Marcia and I are riding to BIllings via Yellowstone and Cody, returning the long way via Flathead Lake, Sand Point, etc. We'll camp at BIllings 23d and 24th, maybe the 25th. Who else is going?

All:

Hopefully, lots of RCB'ers will be going. It is a little early to start a list, but I am definitely planning on making the trip and already know of at least a dozen others that are set to go. It wouldn't surprise me if we had 40-50 riders up there by the time we are done.

Billings looks like a great spot for the rally.

The Beartooth Highway is magical!!

Cheers,

I'm trying to plan for it and I'm trying to get a friend from Sierra BMW to come along. He has a 14 RT and a 14GS. I went to the Salem event and it seamed to me that they had more happening for the GS riders than RT? Is that correct?

There is usually some special off-road competition for GS-types. There are plenty of rides and other things for the rest of the attendees.

Hope to see you there.

Only if they have loud ass pipes. We have all makes ride with us. As long as you ride, we don't really care. Unless you have loud ass pipes! 1/2 mile behind. LOL.

Everyone is welcomed. Yep, she'll have to ride behind so we don't have to dodge flying parts! She'll have a great time! People think BMW riders are snobs. Not true. We get along with ALL riders as long as they don't have loud ass pipes. Then, they are relegated to the rear.

While not camping I will make the arduous ride from Bozeman to Billings through Yellowstone Park and over Beartooth Pass which by Rally time will be old hat. I plan to ride the pass the day after it is opened for the summer. The Montana chapter of RCB will be well represented. :D Tom Moe

Depends on how quickly you wanna get there. 80 to 93 to Twin Falls, East to I-15, north to Butte Mt. East on 90 to Billings. Pretty direct unless I got some road #'s wrong. Ran the country for 14yrs so this is pretty much a no frills route. Others will chime in I suspect.

Cooke City, MT April 13th looking West. The Beartooth Pass was closed and will be for a while yet. They did just open the West and South Entrance to Yellowstone Park April 20. I hope to be one of the first riders over Beartooth just as soon as it is open. From Gardiner to Cooke City we saw 1,000 Buffalo, 35 Elk and 100 Antelope. We were hoping to see bears and wolves, but none. Tom Moe, RCB MT

This big old boy was uncomfortably close on a long and tall bridge nonetheless just east of the North Entrance to Yellowstone Park. They seem to be very timid, however are known to charge even a full size car or pickup now and then. Tom Moe, RCB MT

I plan on attending the July rally in Billings. I grew-up in the Billings area and if anyone is interested, I plan on taking a group of riders up into the Pryor Mountains on a day ride to visit the Big Ice Cave, Penn's Cabin, and to see wild horses (real ones with blood lines that can be traced back to the 1500's). Google PBS, Cloud, Stallions. There are some great documentaries on the area. My website is https://bmwadventures.shutterfly.com and I have some photos of past Pryor trips.

As far as my route to Billings, my initial plans are to head out around July 13th, head up through eastern Oregon (Goose Lake) then onto John Day to Baker City and check out Hells Canyon and camp out at Saddle Creek Campground, onto Lewiston, ID and Hwy 12 to Missoula, MT. A night in Polson, MT, then on to West Glacier Park through the park on the Going to the Sun Highway, on to Great Falls and eventually Billings. Looking forward to my first BMW rally! :D
