On Wednesday we ride to dinner and on Saturday we ride to breakfast. Those and any other rides are coordinated and (sometimes) reported here.

Well, we have a ride planned, in case it's not too wet out...
Look for the route files here.

Ken, when I downloaded & transferred the route my Garmin said it was made with a different map set & did I want to recalculate? (my map set is 2014.3 & you must be using 2014.4). When I told it no it says it transferred, but doesn't appear in "custom routes" as normal. When I do it over and allow it to recalculate it does show up there. I've gotten in trouble before, I guess because of the preferences programmed when recalculating & it sends me a different route (whether doing it in MapSource or on the GPS. Do we need to know what map set is used to create the route?

Did you try recalculating on your computer before uploading to your Garmin?
I don't know that it would do any good to know the map version, unless you want to update your maps before downloading the route.
And yes, it's the 2014.4 maps.

Mike,

Try this on your GPS. Select "Tools">"My Data">"Import Route from File" and see if the route file is in the list. If it is, select it and click the "Import" button at the bottom. This will import the route into your "Custom Routes" and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Since the weather was iffy the ride planned for March 1 was postponed and will now be this coming Saturday March 8 and will be known as the "Day after Thanksgiving" ride. Tom

I think it should be called the WIMP OUT day ride. Why else do you have those $600.00 + rain gear?

For most of us, our rain gear is far too expensive to take the chance of actually getting it wet!!! That's why I always carry a large trash bag in my side cases. In case of a sudden shower you can cut a hole in the trash bag and make it into a very nice poncho to keep the rain off your $900 Aerostitch! Ride on!!!

Great Day After Thanksgiving ride today. Great weather, typical Ken "you can't get there from here" route. A couple of picadillos:
1. On the ride out my low beam blew-again. Seems like I just changed it. Guess I'm going to have to stay on the pavement more. Any ideas?
2. Mike Robles asked me to ride back with him & said he needed to top off at the Shell station next door. When I caught up with him he was cussing a blue streak. Whilst he was watching the meter & bitching about his mileage there was gas running all over his bike. Seems the "automatic" shut-off didnt. Wouldn't start. Battery getting tired. I went back to Granzella's to summon help/ideas. He opened up the gas cap, cranked & cranked & it finally fired after about half an hour. I'm thinking its déjà vue all over again-wingman. I followed him home without event. Morale of the story? Keep your eye on the pump not the meter, and dont go to Shell!
3. In the all the hubblebub I lost my favorite E-Cig. It's silver' it's expensive. Maybe u found it?

Other than that, just another day in the saddle.

My new rule! WATCH THE FREAKIN NOZZLE! I have had this happen twice. First time, no big deal. Just sprayed gas on my ridin buds for ten miles or so. This time not so much so. Bike would not fire. Quite a test on a battery that I didn't know the history of. Good battery btw. Note to self, do the mod so you can jump the bike on the road! It is a PITA getting to the battery on an R1100s. She finally took off. Rackin' my brain to make any sense of why this happened. Drained the air box. Nothing weird with that. Thankfully a canisterectomy was one of my first mods cause I don't think the bike woulda run well with a full canister. Popped the gas cap and let the bike do it's thing. Was still a good day and a good ride albeit a little straighter then usual. Special regard to my wingman JAAAAAACK. thanks for havin my back JAAAAAACK! ! Moral to the story, watch the nozzle and keep track of your expensive E cig.

Even with the (mis)adventures reported above, this was still absolutely the best "Day After Thanksgiving" ride since -- WAIT FOR IT -- the day after Thanksgiving!

I love you guys!

Cheers,
