Bun Burner postponed

On Wednesday we ride to dinner and on Saturday we ride to breakfast. Those and any other rides are coordinated and (sometimes) reported here.

Bun Burner postponed

Postby Fred(Prez2.1) » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:17 am

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am going to have to postpone this ride for another day. I am unable to lead this ride and be the certifier for the group at this time, but I am preparing to try it again in the fall. You can always do a BB1500 any time you like as prescribed in the IBA rules; you just have to do all the documentation yourself instead of in a group setting where one person is the certifier. Sorry about this, but we'll definitely be doing it in the not - too - distant future. Stay tuned.

Well that's inconsiderate! Harumpf! Who do I complain to?

Hm, I'd still like to do it, and I might, but it'll be a normal Bunburner with all of IBA's documentation requirements, not a nice, simplified-documentation group ride. I'm not a great long distance "group" rider as I tend to ride my own pace and make my own stops, but if anyone else wants to do the ride that day, at least you'll know someone else is passing along the same route. Beaver, UT is still as good an overnight stop as any.

And the weather should still be cool-ish. Let me see how the ankle heals but I think I'm going to try.

Hi Phil,

How soon will you know if you'll go? I was silently planning to do it and commit a bit later, but alas, got cancelled. Anybody else thinking of doing it? If nothing happens, I think I will volunteer to do motorcycle crew for the NORCAL AIDS bike ride that weekend.

Thanks, take care and hope the distal fib heals well.

Ernesto,

I'm going to postpone as well. A family activity came up and I think I'll do that instead of mindlessly droning on for 1,500 miles. Another weekend!

Mr Wood,

How many riders does it take to qualify for a club ride as far as IBA is concerned? I would be willing to do the paperwork for this event if we could do it on June 4-5.

That should be OK, Phil (TOP). I think I will do motocrew for the Norcal AIDS bike ride next weekend.

Any tips in doing motorcycle crew?

Officially, the magic number is ten, but we only had nine for our 2010 Iron Butt ... and unless I missed someone, we weren't even half-way to ten for our proposed Bun Burner ...

Hm, I'm not sure I can help - I'm not even sure what the crew's responsibilities are. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Ernesto: Kim Rydalch would be the best person to respond to your inquiry, but in the mean time I'll chime in. I had the pleasure of helping out as a moto SAG rider at last year's Death Ride http://www.deathride.com/ for my first time. Assuming your responsibilities during the AIDS ride are similar to that of the Death Ride, your principle job will be to help out both broken down riders and riders with broken down bikes. You may be asked to transport riders and their bikes, carry spare tubes, help with changing tires, and/or reporting injuries to medical help down the road. In exchange you'll be thanked profusely for being there and helping out, you'll get pats on the back, thumbs-up and will most-likely come away feeling sorry the day is over and looking forward to the next years ride.

Good luck and have a great time.
