Morro Bay Ride in April

On Wednesday we ride to dinner and on Saturday we ride to breakfast. Those and any other rides are coordinated and (sometimes) reported here.

It's never too early to secure your rooms for the Morro Bay ride on April 15 - 17. I have talked to the people at the Morro Crest Inn (where we stayed last year), and they have blocked 12 rooms for us at rates of $52 per night for single bed, $62 for double. Call Dennis at 805 772 7740 and tell him you are with the RCB to get the quoted rate. Don't hesitate, we filled the place last year! See you there!

Got my room booked for that weekend. Guess all the downstairs rooms were taken except a single next to the office. Looks like Jochen and I will make the weekend. What time do the groups usually start the ride down on Friday. Jochen has to drop his kids off to school before he's free so expect he won't be free until around 9 AM.

Thanks for booking the room Terry, very much appreciated.

Yes, I am planning on attending the ride as well. Looking forward to it.

Look for an article in the next newsletter with details on the ride. We will be leaving at 9:00 AM from Shari's on Florin, but if you can't make that we will wait at the Chevron in Santa Nella for any late arrivals.

Dennis called me today and said all the rooms at the Morro Crest Inn have been reserved. He will contact me if there are any cancellations, so if you are planning to go with us to Morro Bay and haven't reserved a room you will have to look for an alternate motel. There are many motels in town, and if some one finds one they like they should post it here for others.

There is a motel next door to the Morro Crest called the Sundown Motel. I have no idea what their rates are, but if you are interested their # is 805 772 7381 Other choices are the Marina Street B&B, the Best Western San Marcos Inn, the Fireside Inn, Twin Dolphin Inn, Rodeway Inn, or Pacific Shore Inn.

With the recent mudslides on the PCH, will the route go through Fort Hunter Leggett instead?

Reports are the roads have been (at least partially) removed from the side of the mountain they previously were attached to. One near the Bixby Bridge, and one 2.5 miles South of Lucia.

That's the new plan. We'll still hit that great Wild Thyme Deli in Marina, then take the Carmel Valley Rd inland.
I'll post the new route soon...

I am thinking I will probably make this but I wont be riding down with the group but I will probably ride back with the group. I have to work in the morning Friday and may stop in Monterey friday night or make a straight freeway run down Friday. Is there a group dinner Sarurday night?

Unfortunately no group dinner Saturday; it's every one for themselves that night. It's difficult to get every one together at the same time after we all do something different during the day, but I'm sure there will be groups of us heading out to eat together. I'd check in at the motel to see who's going where, the Morro Crest is where most of us are staying.

Hi Fred

Since I am down in the San Jose during the weeks, Nancy and I will drive from San Jose to Monterray and be there for lunch.
At what time do you think you and the group will be there?

We will then join you all for the trip down to Morro Bay.
We have reservation for Morro Crest.

Looking forward for a nice weekend with you all.

We should arrive at the Wild Thyme Deli around noon, if we leave at 9:00 from Sacramento as planned.

Don't forget we are leaving from Shari's restaurant on Florin Road (west of I-5) at 9:00 AM, and because of the alternate route we're taking I moved up the dinner time at the Outrigger from 6:30 to 7:00 PM.
