5 Passes Ride Oct 10th

On Wednesday we ride to dinner and on Saturday we ride to breakfast. Those and any other rides are coordinated and (sometimes) reported here.

Forgive me if it's too early to be asking these questions :D but is there a place and time set to meet for this ride?

Follow this link http://rivercitybeemers.org/node/219 to the Beta version of our website update. That's the only place I've seen any information. Maybe in the October newsletter which should be hitting in boxes any day?

The Aspen around Mt. Rose Pass and especially at Sorensen's are just starting to turn. The ride should be spectacularly beautiful!

Just ran Mt. Rose yesterday on my way back from Torrey, UT. Beautiful! The colors are in full swing.

How quick things change!

Sonora and Tioga are closed and Mt. Rose has sticking snow on it!

Oy, fun ride potential! Bring the Gerbings!

Dino,

If weather (snow, tsunami, washed out road, land slide) we're to disrupt the route, we'd simply find an alternative. The ride is on.

Two things - First you apparently don't understand 1bmwfan's sense of humor. He knows better and he's just having fun with us. He is our official club worry-wort and we will tease him mercilessly at Tuesday's board meeting. Yes, mercilessly.

Second, the route (http://rcb.org/node/219) doesn't go over Tioga, Sonora nor Monitor. It goes over Yuba, Beckwourth, Mt. Rose, Daggett, Luther and Echo, all of which are major roads and all of which are kept open even during the snowiest part of the winter.

You might want to do what we do, keep an eye on the Accuweather and Caltrans (http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/mtnhwys.htm) websites. You'll see that Monitor is indeed closed due to snow, while Tioga and Sonora are just closed to inclement weather - They'll reopen as soon as this front passes.

See you Sunday?

Yes, I think so. Go back to the page, press "Reload" or "Refresh" to bring in a clean copy of the page into your browser, and then try to download the file again. If that doesn't work, try to right-click the link and then "save as ..."

And if that still doesn't work, email me (don't post here) the type of computer, your operating system and your browser type and we'll walk through it.

Just returned from a Passes predrive (the weather reports showed T-storms for the area today. They lied). For the part that I did (from start to South Lake Tahoe.) it was great. Roads are good and dry with snow at the top of Mt. Rose, beautiful. and the views are terrific (just keep your eyes on the road). You will find lots and lots of twisties, including some very tight hair-pins, and some straights too. Remember, there will be a leader for those wishing to see some of the scenery along the way.

Come out and enjoy the ride.

Thanks, Marv, for doing that. I was wondering about the conditions on Mt. Rose...

Thanks for the invite Dino, and thanks for a GREAT run guys!

A special thanks to the 'Less Spirited' Crew. It was a perfect pace for me. You guys taught me a lot, by example.

Ken,

One of the guys behind you was filming the Five Passes ride. Looks like it was quite a doozie!
