GPS Basics Class - February 25 @ 11 AM

Postby jack » Sat Feb 04, 2017 12:15 pm

GIVEN THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS, WE WILL CONDUCT THE CLASS AT A MEETING ROOM IN THE BASEMENT OF OUR BUILDING. PLEASE GO TO THE MAIN ADDRESS FOR MATHENY SEARS LINKERT & JAIME - ON THE LEVY SIDE OF THE BUILDING (3638 AMERICAN RIVER DRIVE). THERE IS A COURTYARD NEXT TO THE ENTRANCE TO THE FIRM. GO INTO THE COURTYARD AND FOLLOW THE SIGNS POSTED. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED.

Ken Carruthers, our de facto ride Captain, has volunteered to conduct a class on the basics of use of Map Source and Basecamp, the two primary Garmin mapping programs. The goal of the class will be to impart sufficient knowledge so you can make your own route or track, be able to download a route or track from your computer to your GPS, and share GPS routes / tracks with your riding pals via e-mail.

The class is designed to be hands on so plan to bring your GPS with a full charge and your lap top (with a full charge) if you have one.

Please check to be sure your GPS has the latest operating software. This can be done through Garmin Express. If you bought the BMW Nav # you probably have unlimited map updates. You also can buy unlimited map updates from other vendors such as Touratech. If you have unlimited map updates, please, please check to assure your map is up to date because downloading a new map can take hours, depending on internet speeds. If you have an older map, don't worry as it most likely will work with Map Source or Basecamp.

The class will be at my office. Matheny Sears Linkert & Jaime, 3638 American River Drive, Sacramento (just south of Watt and Fair Oaks). The entrance is at the back of the office building next to the American River levy.

Please sign up so we can plan ahead.

BTW! Who rode in the brand new Victory? Was that you Bruce? Nice looking bike!

We thought you got lost on the way there Gordy  you could have benefitted from the class :D

Hope you feel better. Should not last more than a few ~ 3 days. If longer and that bad, may not be a simple cold. May be the flu?

Take care!
