RCB Web Site

Postby jack » Sun Jan 22, 2017 9:21 pm

Members:

While functional, the software running behind the RCB web site is ancient. The Board has decided to bring the web site current. Ken has volunteered to spearhead the effort, but could use some help.

We are looking for volunteers who are familiar with Wordpress.

If you are familiar with the Wordpress software and are willing to volunteer some time, please contact me and Ken.

Thanks,

Jack

which website are we speaking about? My guess is the main RCB page and not this forum. I know we keep hearing about the Wordpress template being old, but so it's old. Heck I am old. I am still not sure why we need to change what we have. I was told because of security, but what are we securing on our web site? We post names and phone numbers of our members. We have Garmin files and route sheets. What are we trying to secure?

Maybe I ask to many questions and my experience with several Wordpress sites makes me a bad candidate for the volunteer job to help with a new site, but I ask again, why do we need to change what we have? If you want to add some yet unknown functionality, then I could see a change, but I have not heard of anything new we want to do with our site.

If we just want change for the sake of change then lets change it.
